Part-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement Negotiations – Update 4

Bargaining continued September 18 – 19

The College Employer Council continued negotiations this week to reach an agreement that will provide long-term success for all part-time support staff and Ontario’s 24 Colleges. The parties had two days of productive negotiations, leading towards reaching fair solutions on a variety of issues including union leave and employee records.

Both parties have also agreed to extend the bargaining schedule to include dates in November and December. A complete schedule of bargaining dates is included below.

The Colleges’ Bargaining Team is committed to continuing the process of fair, open and honest negotiations and to working with OPSEU to negotiate an agreement that is fair to part-time workers, service users and the colleges.

We are committed to negotiating an agreement that will:

  • Maintain local operational flexibility in support of academic delivery, service delivery, and student success;
  • Recognize the diversity of part-time employment relationships that have been developed in the Colleges; and
  • Provide students with employment opportunities during their time at college as a means of earning money while studying and gaining valuable experience that helps them jump-start their careers.

Ontario’s Colleges are an employer of choice in the communities they serve and continue to be for both full and part-time workers.
